To all those Americans out there...
No, we Australians don’t celebrate Thanksgiving on the weekend, just like we don’t celebrate 4th of July.
But if you think we should, please explain why.

thanksgiving is on the 3rd thursday of november. for americans, it is a weekend, as thursday and friday are taken off.
it is to give thanks for the indians who welcomed the first pilgrims and taight them how to hunt and stuff
the pilgrims cooked a big feast to thank the indians for helping them settle in.
they killed them a generation later or so...
not many americans know that this is what thanksgiving represents. hence, some wouldn't understand why we don't celebrate it
4th of july is obvious why we don't celebrate, except i do, cause it's my birthday
